The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, presented this morning at the IES de Valadares a new workshop of the initiative entitled “Improvised Dialectical Disputes for Equality”, promoted by the Unit of Violence on Women of the Subdelegation of the Government in Pontevedra and aimed at schoolchildren in the province. This action is part of the program of activities for the 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The event was attended by, in addition to the subdelegate, the Councilor for Equality of Vigo, Ana Laura Iglesias; the head of the Unit of Violence on Women of the Subdelegation, María José Rodríguez; the director of the IES, Patricia Mena; and the head of studies, Ángel Iglesias. In total, more than half a hundred students from the 3rd year of ESO participated in this activity, taught by the artist Lupe Blanco, and learned the regueifar in letters that pay tribute to the commitment to full equality between women and men and the active rejection of any form of gender violence.
These workshops aim to raise awareness among young people in the fight against gender violence, promote equality and promote reflection on different topics related to male violence. After passing through the IES of Cambados and Valadares, the activity will be highlighted at the IES Pontecaldelas on November 25 and at the IES Pintor Colmeiro de Silleda on November 28.
"At a time when speeches that deny the existence of male violence proliferate, this type of initiative is very important to raise awareness and sensitize young people, who are and must be active and fundamental agents of change," said the subdelegate, who explained that "the success of this activity has a lot to do with the fact that the improvised dialectic dispute fits very well with the type of music that young people listen to today, while offering the resources of the Galician language, our language, to disseminate ideas and concepts related to the permanent fight against male violence and in favor of full equality between women and men."
Other activities
As part of the 25N programme of activities, this Sunday the awareness campaign, “It kills male violence”, promoted by the Subdelegation of the Government and the base basketball clubs of the province, will be presented. The campaign will consist of the distribution of violet balls with the motto of the initiative in the Benxamin and Alevin categories. The event will be held in the CUVI pavilion.
Finally, on Monday, November 25, there will be an institutional event attended by students of the Master of Advertising of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Vigo, which is developing a communication campaign under the charge of the Government Subdelegation within the framework of a Service-Learning program.
