The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, encourages the families of the province to request the new social voucher for Internet connection promoted by the Government of Spain. The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service has published this week the list of operators operating in each Autonomous Community within the framework of the UNICO Bono Social program. This bonus is aimed at helping financially vulnerable families with a discount on the ultra-fast broadband internet connection fee.
In Galicia the operators integrated in the program are Telefica España, Itegal ICT Services, Atuaxanela, Digi Spain, RCable and Telecable Communications. The subdelegate encouraged “all vulnerable families in the province to apply for this Bond” and asked the Xunta de Galicia “speed up the processing of this aid so that it reaches all pontevedreses and pontevedresas who need it”.
For its implementation, the Government of Spain endowed the program with a total of 30 million euros, transferred to the Autonomous Communities to manage the processing of this Social Bonus. The subdelegate explained that, in any case, “all people who have recognized the status of beneficiary of the Minimum Vital Income will automatically be qualified as members of vulnerable groups for the purposes of this aid program.”
Each digital voucher will have a maximum amount of 240 euros to be distributed in 12 monthly payments in such a way that a monthly reduction of up to 20 euros will be applied in the final amount of the invoice. This investment is framed within the UNICO family of programs to promote the universality of connectivity in Spain, and is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU Funds.
Abel Losada stressed the importance of providing access to ultra-fast broadband to all people “because internet access is already a key issue for equal employment and social opportunities, and we promote this measure so that no one is left behind in this present and digital future because they are in a situation of economic vulnerability”.
