The Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, held a working meeting this morning with the head of the coordination unit against violence against women of the Government Delegation, María Debén, and the head of the unit of violence against women of the province of A Coruña, Manuela Vilaboy.
The subdelegate highlighted the important role that municipalities play in dealing with male violence, confirming that the new transfer of funds from the State Pact against gender violence leaves in the municipalities of the province of A Coruña 762,935.24 euros to develop equality policies, awareness actions and activities aimed at achieving a more equal society and with zero tolerance of male violence.
María Rivas invited the municipalities to allocate these funds to the eradication of male violence within the framework of their competences, “developing awareness campaigns, improving care and information services, or even training the professionals working in this area in the municipalities, as well as the local police adhered to the Viogén system, to mention some examples”.
She also thanked “all the work being carried out by the different agents involved in the processes of violence against women, since we know that they are going through difficult situations and do so with the greatest diligence and professionalism.” In this field, he valued the importance of the correct and close collaboration between administrations and security forces, as well as calling to continue deepening it “to provide an effective service focused on the best assistance to women victims.”
María Rivas highlighted the commitment of the Government in the fight for equality and against gender violence, which materializes in the more than 82 million euros invested in Galicia since 2018 in actions to prevent and combat male violence. Of these, more than 73 million were transferred to the Xunta to finance actions in this area.
Thus, he recalled that on July 19 it was published in the B.O.E. the new transfer of funds from the Pact of State that moves to Galicia 1,052,868.12 euros through 3 calls: personalized plans for women victims of gender violence and their sons and daughters, with 63,595.40€; programs of support for victims of aggression and/or sexual abuse, with 529,755.36€ and program of right to comprehensive social assistance to victims of gender violence and care for minors, with 459,517.36€
Distribution criteria
Royal Decree 1023/2020, of November 17, includes the established distribution criteria and contemplates, on the one hand, a fixed amount for each locality – without taking into account its population – and another fixed amount depending on the population of the municipality. In addition, the remainder that exists after applying the above criteria is distributed proportionally among all municipalities incorporated into the Comprehensive Monitoring System in Cases of Gender Violence (VioGén System) of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as among municipalities where registered victims are users of the telephone service of Attention and Protection for victims of gender violence (ATENPRO) on the first day of the month prior to the issuance of the annual transfer resolution.
