The accidental subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, María Isabel Alonso de Linaje, co-chaired this morning the Xunta Local de Seguridad in Vilagarcía de Arousa, together with the mayor of the town, Alberto Varela. The deputy mayor, Tania García, the inspector of the National Police, Luis Ortiz, the lieutenant of the Civil Traffic Guard, Alfonso Square and other officials of the Local Police and the emergency municipal corps also attended. The meeting was aimed at coordinating the security operation for the summer parties in the city, especially for the Water Festival, which will take place on August 16, and for the Naval Combat, which will be held on the 24th of this month.
The Government Subdelegation offered maximum collaboration to guarantee security in the town during the month of August and, particularly, in the development of these two main festivities.
Thus, the National Police Force will strengthen its presence during the 15th and 16th, with the collaboration of a patrol of the Police Intervention Unit of Vigo. The Civil Traffic Guard will carry out special traffic and operational controls during the Water Festival at the accesses to the town and will intensify the alcohol and drug controls as a prevention due to the possible lack of responsibility of some drivers.
Local police officers will also ensure the smooth running of the festive activities by strengthening patrols and traffic controls. Various ambulances and an emergency health team will also be mobilized, which will be located in the Plaza de la Pescadería.
On the other hand, the Subdelegation was very positive that the City Council once again disposes during the celebrations of a Violet Point to offer information, advice and help in the face of any type of machista aggression.
