The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, announced that the Government will bring 2.94 million euros to three business innovation centers located in the area of Vigo, which covered four of the twelve projects selected in the call Cervera Technological Centers of Excellence 2023 of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
The subdelegate framed this investment “in the commitment of the Government to promote the ecosystem of innovation in the province in strategic areas” and highlighted “the role of Vigo as for that of innovation in Spain”. In this regard, he explained that four of the five Galician centers benefiting from this call are Vigueses.
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has published the final resolution of the Cervera Technology Centres of Excellence 2023 Call, which allocates 38.3 million euros, financed with the European funds of the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan, to 12 projects of technology centres and innovation support centres.
The three centres in the province will participate in four projects aimed at implementing strategic R&D&I programmes in the field of Cervera priority technologies. Specifically, the Telecommunications Technology Center of Galicia (GRADIANT) will receive 976 thousand euros to develop a cybersecurity project together with the CEIT of Navarra. The Vigués center will also receive 800 thousand euros to carry out experiments with 6G technology along with two other centers in Catalonia and the Basque Country.
For its part, the National Technical Centre for the Conservation of Fishery Products (CECOPESCA) will receive almost 600 thousand euros by joining the network of omics technologies for the innovation of optimal protein combinations for the consumer along with four other centres in Aragon, Catalonia, the Basque Country and Valencia.
Likewise, the Technological Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (ENERGYLAB) will receive 570 thousand euros to promote renewable hydrogen along with four other centers in Andalusia, Castilla y León, Catalonia and Valencia.
The objective of this call, managed by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), is to strengthen the capacities of technological centers that develop applied research in Spain and promote their ability to collaborate with other agents, especially companies.
