The Government Delegation in Galicia continues to reaffirm its commitment to the feminist agenda and public policies that defend and advance women's rights through the events planned for the week of March 8, Women's Day. From yesterday to Monday next week, the events will take place in the different offices of the Government in Galicia, both in the Delegation and in the Subdelegations.
The week of 8M will begin this Monday in all the Subdelegations with the installation of a commemorative banner of this event that will preside over its facades until Monday, March 11. Throughout that week, the main protagonists will be the training courses on the legal framework applicable to foreign women victims of gender violence. All of them will be directed by the different heads and heads of the offices of foreigners and destined to the social services existing in the province.
The first of these will be held in A Coruña on Monday, March 4 at 10 a.m. in the auditorium of the Government Delegation. The next day, Lugo’s will take place in the auditorium of the headquarters of the Tax Agency at 11 a.m., continuing with Ourense, where social services will be cited in the auditorium and events of the Subdelegation also at 11 a.m. Finally, the meeting in Pontevedra is scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 7 in the Subdelegation.
In parallel with these actions, on Thursday, March 7, a colloquium will be organized with women to achieve an overview of their situation in Galicia. The participants will be young women who will present their ideas and points of view so that they can be heard and form part of the public debate. The event will be held at the headquarters of the National Museum of Science and Technology (Muncyt) in Cordoba from 12 noon.
Events all year
The events around 8M began yesterday with the presentation by the government delegate, Pedro Blanco, of the first Violet Point of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), located in the offices of the Provincial Directorate of A Coruña and that, subsequently, will be extended to the rest of the offices of the public entity in Galicia.
Public policies in defense of women's rights are one of the axes of the Government of Pedro Sánchez. In this regard, the Government Delegation seeks to extend its feminist agenda to every month of the year, with actions that emphasize these policies and the fight against the scourge of gender violence.
These initiatives have their maximum exponent in the Meninese recognitions granted by the Delegation, but also in other local acts and activities that bring the Galician and Galician daily ideas and tools in the search for a more equal world between men and women. A good example is the exhibition ‘Amigo, date conta’, which the Government Delegation premiered on November 10, 2023 in A Coruña and which has also visited Bertamiráns, in the city of Ames.
