Verín (Ourense), January 10, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, and the mayor of Verín, Gerardo Seoane, co-chaired this morning the meeting of the Local Security Board in which the public security situation was analyzed and the measures of the self-protection plan of the Carnival have been studied given the relevance of being part of the magic triangle of the carnival and the proximity of this festivity that will begin on February 1.
In terms of public security, Emilio González took the opportunity to congratulate the work of Comandante Verín during the last year, highlighting the important clarification of crimes by more than 40% and the dismantling of the criminal gang that for months was dedicated to the theft of copper cable throughout the province
Carnival
Regarding the Carnival, the Subdelegate requests that the same climate of security that has been carried out in recent years be maintained, so that the accesses and security measures in the squares will be improved so that the citizens of Verín can enjoy the true spirit of the Carnival without incident. And he announces that special attention and prevention will be given to the convening of the precarnival.
He also asked for maximum collaboration with other administrations, especially the Xunta de Galicia, with the regional police; as well as citizen collaboration for the correct development of these holidays given the large crowds that are expected.
For more security and information, video surveillance cameras will be added to AXEGA’s cameras on Thursday. This security will be reinforced with the help of Civil Protection and the state security forces and bodies from Sunday until the end of the carnival.
For his part, the mayor, Gerardo Seoane, explained the measures of the "self-protection plan" carried out by the City Council and the security forces and which will be extended during all the days of the carnival.
This is the second of the three security meetings that the subdelegate will chair in the coming weeks. The next few days will be held in Viana do Bolo, touring and analyzing the protection measures that will be carried out in the large Carnival localities.
