The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited today together with the mayor, Carlos Calvelo, the chapel of the Spa in which the rehabilitation works that allowed to transform this element of the thermal complex into a multipurpose room intended to host socio-cultural events have already been completed. This action included a contribution 199,876.92 euros of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan in terms of compliance with the first line of the Plan for the Promotion and Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (PIREP).
The subdelegate pointed out that the aid of the PIREP Program represents a “great impact for citizens and public services” since it allows “the creation of new spaces adapted to the needs and activity of citizens and the use of spaces, often in disuse, such as old sports centers, social centers, schools and municipal markets through their rehabilitation”.
“Here today in the city of Arteixo we can see a clear example of how the Government is reaching the entire territory with the Recovery Plan, with the objective of improving services in collaboration with local administrations, and working together to improve the quality of life of the citizens and all the people who live in this province,” said the deputy delegate.
In this regard, María Rivas recalled that in this first line, the Government allocated, through the local PIREP, 12 million euros to ten municipalities of the province of A Coruña to finance the rehabilitation of 11 buildings of municipal ownership.
Specifically, the subdelegate highlighted actions such as that of the City of Santiago that obtained 3,319,427 euros to improve the sports facilities of Vite and Santa Isabel; the 1,482,081 euros for the rehabilitation of the Market of Supplies of Betanzos or the 978,710 euros granted by the Government for the rehabilitation of the Pazo de Martelo and Municipal Library of the City of Rianxo.
María Rivas highlighted the municipal nature of the Government and said that the “Public Buildings Rehabilitation Promotion Program (PIREP) is a good example of how we support municipalities to have infrastructures and means to offer quality services to their neighbors.”
The chapel of the Balneario was part of the second phase of the rehabilitation works of the Balneario de Arteixo, which recently ended, and included the transformation of the same into a room dedicated to hosting exhibitions or public events for the enjoyment of the neighborhood of the municipality.
Investments in the City of Arteixo
María Rivas took advantage of her visit to the city of Arteixo to show the commitment that the Government has with the municipality, which is manifested through the more than 2 million euros destined to different measures and programs to improve the quality of life of the citizens, in addition to their services and infrastructures.
In this regard, the sub-slim stated that the municipality received an aid of 907,000 euros through the Ministry for the Ecological Transition for the implementation of the Londra project, which aims at environmental regeneration and the recovery of the habitats and forest of the Bolaños and Bidueira rivers; in addition to the development of a sustainable urban drainage system.
María Rivas recalled that Arteixo was one of the 6 Galician municipalities that benefited from the grant granted by the Ministry of Transport and Urban Agenda for municipalities to create low-emission zones and acquire buses and electric bicycles, to decarbonize and digitize urban mobility. In particular, they received 702,000 € to finance the humanization works of the Paseo del Balneario, to integrate the Central Park and Balneario de Arteixo and for the public system of cyclist mobility in Arteixo.
Finally, the subdelegate also highlighted the investment of 110.148.64 € made by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Advancement through the UNICO-Broadband Program, which aims to bring the ultra-fast internet connection to all rural areas of Galicia that do not have this service; in addition to the 117.145, 64 € of the Ministry of Equality within the Pact of State Against Gender Violence and the 53.724 € of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism for the Modernization and Devices.
