The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the government’s commitment to improving services and the quality of life of citizens in rural areas, which translates into more than 500,000 euros of investments in the Council of A Baña to advance its digitalization and sustainability. Pedro Blanco traveled to the Concello de A Baña where he held a meeting with the mayor, José Antonio Pereira, and members of the local government to oversee these projects.
In particular, the delegate mentioned the 394,546 euros received by the City Council through the IDAE (Ministry for the Ecological Transition) for the change of public lighting for a more efficient one, with the consequent reduction of emissions and savings in the electric bill of the local government. To this investment is added the UN-Broadband Plan, developed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, which will allow the arrival of high-speed internet, through fiber optics, to 903 homes and local companies that previously did not have this service.
Pedro Blanco put these actions as an example of the Government’s commitment to municipalism and, in particular, to the municipalities of demographic challenge through the funds of the Recovery Plan, “which reaches each and every one of the concellos of Galicia”.
To these actions we must add other budget items such as the 100,000 euros of the Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination (PSTD) ‘Terras de Santiago’ of the Ministry of Industry for the creation of a gastronomic classroom in the municipality.
A Baña is part of this plan together with the concellos of Vedra, Boqueixón, Brión, Santiago, Teo, Ames, Val do Dubra, Negreira and Santa Comba, who receive together 1.3 million euros from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism to boost local gastronomic markets, create and promote new formats of gastronomic tourism in the region and reinforce the offer of active tourism.
