The government delegate, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the more than 8.5 million euros that the government granted in grants for innovative electric mobility projects in Galicia. The delegate assessed the impact on the Community of the two calls for the MUEVES Singulares II Program, managed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge with funds from the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Pedro Blanco stressed that the second call for this program was resolved last June and more than 6.5 million euros were awarded in Galicia for 17 projects developed by 10 different entities and companies. These projects join the six projects awarded in the first call, which left in Galicia another 2 million euros in aid.
Among the projects selected by the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE), an agency attached to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, there are initiatives such as the installation of electric charging points with storage, multiple charging systems and high power, as well as the promotion of public electric transport.
Pedro Blanco points out the opportunity generated by this aid to develop efficient and sustainable mobility programs, such as the project of development of the intermodal, intelligent and sustainable network of electric transport in the area of the Ribeira Sacra. The plan, promoted by the Ribeira Sacra Tourism Consortium, receives 1,456,000 euros from the Government, 40% of the total cost (3,640,000 euros). The resolution of this aid highlights the high technical complexity associated with this project, since it is a very complex area in terms of the topography itself (slopes, slopes, route layout), the characteristics of its users (inhabitants, tourists, pilgrims, bicycles) and, finally, because it is an atomized and dispersed local tourist environment, in which accessibility is an essential factor.
The MUEVES Singulares program
The program, funded through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, seeks to promote new technological developments in public and private transport, accelerate its maturity and, with that, its subsequent commercialization. The programme also complements the drive for efficient and sustainable mobility initiated with the publication of the three editions of the programmes for efficient and sustainable mobility (MUEVES I Programme, MUEVES II Programme and MUEVES III) and gives continuity to the MUEVES Singulares I Programme, which was a success in terms of the quantity and quality of the projects submitted.
