The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, today valued “collaboration and international police cooperation with Portugal to favor the improvement of the attention to the citizen and the tourist during this summer”. The subdelegate made these statements at the welcome ceremony for the two officers of the Portuguese Public Security Police who during the month of July will patrol Vigo together with the National Police Force. The initiative is part of the project “European Police Stations” and seeks “to be close to the Portuguese tourist, who is increasingly present in Vigo and the province, to offer him comprehensive attention in citizen security, with police who speak their language and know the legal procedures of both countries”.
Maica Larriba explained that the two agents who are going to participate in the initiative come from the district of Aveiro and that in addition to patrolling the city, they will participate in the security device of the informal council of fisheries ministers of the European Union of next day 17, as well as in the security on the Camino de Santiago, in the Cíes Islands, etc.
The deputy delegate of the Government explained that the Portuguese citizens who do tourism in Vigo “and who are increasingly, feel more tranquil when they see their own police patrolling the city with the Spanish Police”. “This is an important project for this government, which is a further step in the consolidation of the concept of cross-border security.”
