The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, traveled today to the beach of Mañóns in Boiro to visit the actions developed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge on the beach of Mañóns. The visit was accompanied by the mayor, Xosé Ramón Romero and the head of the Coastal Demarcation of A Coruña, Rafael Eimil.
María Rivas wanted to know at first hand the work of stabilization of the coastal edge that was carried out to prevent the regression process that she was suffering and that was causing the fall of the slopes and the tree of the pine grove.
To avoid the continuation of this regressive situation, pretiles were placed for the defense of the coast, removed from the docks of A Ribeiriña, in A Pobra do Caramiñal, and used to make the barrier effect and thus avoid the erosion of the slopes.
María Rivas highlighted this reuse of materials that she defined as “an example of sustainable action and circular economy that also allows to reduce costs and execute an intervention with the least possible impact from an environmental point of view”.
The subdelegate highlighted the sustainability of this project that included the installation of wooden slats on the pretiles to serve as benches for the users and users of the beach. The performance had an approximate budget of 25,000 euros.
