The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, has today claimed in Arzúa the investment effort that the Government of Spain is making in the conservation and maintenance of the State Road Network in the province with more than 65 million euros since 2018.
María Rivas recalled this figure this morning in Arzúa where she went to supervise the start of the rehabilitation works on the N-547 road as it passed through the municipality. Some works that have a budget of 493,179 euros and that is an old demand of the municipalities of Arzúa and Melide.
The deputy delegate stressed the “clear and firm commitment of this Government to recover the time lost in the infrastructure of the province with historical decisions and investments”.
On the other hand, María Rivas expressed her satisfaction with the start of these works that “pay off a debt that has been outstanding for years with these two municipalities as important for the interior Galicia as Arzúa and Melide”.
In this regard, he recalled the important impulse that the Government is giving to the A-54 Motorway that is already in its “final stretch” and that will connect Lugo and Santiago in 50 minutes of travel. María Rivas stressed that this motorway will significantly increase road safety, both road and pedestrian, of the N-547, where there is currently an important transit of pilgrims.
The rehabilitation works that have begun today are the sections between the kilometers (km) 47,400 and 49,480 (Crossing of Melide); and the km 62,240 and the 64,300 (Crossing of Arzúa) of the N-547. This restoration of the firm in addition to the improvement of both the surface and the structure will increase road safety.
Technical characteristics
With regard to the technical part of the works, these contemplate two types of actions depending on the degree of current deterioration of the firm in each of the crossings.
On the one hand, a superficial action, which includes the milling and replacement of the rolling layer of the areas without structural failures of the firm and a complete structural rehabilitation of the firm section, in those areas that present a worse state of conservation, where the pavement will be milled.
Finally, the action will be completed with the replacement of all the horizontal signage affected by the rehabilitation work.
This action constitutes a significant impulse to improve the quality of service of the existing state road infrastructure.
