The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, reiterated today the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez for the fair transition, as shown by the concession of 12.4 million euros to promote 17 projects in Galician municipalities affected by the processes of closure of thermal power plants (As Pontes and Meirama).
José Miñones advanced the resolution of the call for aid for the improvement of environmental, social and digital infrastructures in municipalities affected by the energy transition, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The resolution was released today by the Institute for Fair Transition, under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
José Miñones reiterated the Government’s commitment to the “green revolution in Galicia” by supporting municipalities affected by the closure of thermal power plants, giving “real opportunities” for the social and economic development of municipalities and promoting new business initiatives that create jobs and future in these municipalities.
The resolution published today is an example of this support, with the promotion of 17 projects that will be implemented in municipal buildings and public spaces and on public property. “We talk about projects that will improve the quality of life of the citizens of these municipalities, improving social, cultural and entrepreneurial services, and contributing to the environmental improvement of green and urban areas in different localities,” said the delegate. José Miñones stressed that a large part of the projects will be developed in municipalities of demographic challenge, “which usually have more difficulties to face large investments.”
The delegate recalled that the Government launched last summer a Fair Transition Office in the Seara business center, in the Pontes, and that it is managed by technicians of the public company Tragsa. This office is the disposition of the 19 municipalities with transition agreements to outline their candidacies and attract the maximum possible funds from the different lines of aid and support for productive investment in these territories.
