The Government’s deputy delegate to A Coruña, María Rivas, visited Bergondo today to learn about the project to remodel the Cortiñán crossing, which has an investment of 1.3 million euros. The 1.3 km stretch has just been approved by the Ministry of Transport and will go on to public information in the coming weeks.
María Rivas, who was accompanied on her visit by the mayor of Bergondo, Alejandra Pérez Márquez, stressed that these works pursue three fundamental objectives “to humanize the area, moderate speed and increase the safety of pedestrians in a section through which more than 5,000 vehicles pass daily”.
The deputy delegate highlighted the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to “pay a historical debt with Bergondo, both in terms of road safety and quality of life”. “The government puts an end to two black points of the municipality such as the crossing of Guísamo and the crossing of Cortiñán, which have also been one of the main demands of the municipality in the last decade,” he added.
María Rivas stressed that “improving the quality of life of citizens in all areas is one of the challenges of this Government and hence the commitment to humanize spaces in whatever context”. She added that the Cortiñán crossing “is a clear example of the need to take into account people since with this remodeling not only will safety be increased giving priority to pedestrians but those who live in this area will live better and more tranquil”.
The subdelegate has also pointed out the good functioning of the works of the Guísamo crossing currently under execution and that have an investment of 1.5 million euros. “Another action of vital importance since it acts on a section of concentration of accidents and through which 25,000 vehicles circulate daily,” he explained.
“With these actions in the N-6 as it passed through Bergondo, to which the Government allocates almost 3 million euros, we uncovered projects that hindered not only road safety but also the quality of life of those who live in this area,” said the deputy delegate.
María Rivas has recapitulated the investment that the Government has made in the state-owned roads in the province of A Coruña in the last four years, more than 60 million euros in maintenance and conservation. He has also stressed that this investment in Bergondo is linked to a series of actions that the Ministry of Transport is undertaking to improve the security and mobility of the metropolitan area of A Coruña, such as the abolition of the crossing of A Rocha (in the N-550 in Cambre), already completed, and the improvement of the crossing of Solymar (in the N-6 in Perillo, Oleiros), in execution.
Technical characteristics
To improve the road safety of the section, the following actions are proposed:

Execution of medium physics between both senses equipped with a rigid barrier.
Abolition of central waiting lanes and certain service routes

Construction of multiplatform space for sidewalks and parking
