The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, reaffirmed today in the City of Taboada the impulse of the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Government in the small municipalities of the province of Lugo. “European funds are reaching all points of the territory, allowing municipalities such as Taboada to develop sustainable actions in energy and digitalization,” said the subdelegate who highlighted the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the municipalities called the Demographic Challenge.
Isabel Rodríguez traveled this morning to the City of Taboada to supervise, together with the mayor, Ramiro Moure, the investments of the Government in the municipality and know their demands. Thus, it verified the result of the project of improvement and modernization of outdoor street lighting in 5 parishes of the municipality, which had a financial contribution of 92,000 euros by the State, granted within the DUS5000 Program, managed by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, intended to finance projects in municipalities of the demographic challenge, that is, with a population of up to 5,000 inhabitants.
Specifically, a total of 221 luminaires were installed in the parishes of Cerceda, in Santa Marina; Couto, in San Martiño; Mesonfrio, in Santa María; Taboada de los Frailes, in Santa María; and Arxir, in San Paio. “Thanks to the help of the Government, the neighbors of these rural centers of the City of Taboada have a LED lighting, more sustainable, respectful of the environment and that represents economic savings for the municipal coffers,” explained the subdelegate who stressed that this type of projects advance in the process of energy transition and in the transformation of the villas in a responsible way.
The objective of the Government’s DUS5000 is to give a boost to sustainable urban development through actions that constitute unique clean energy projects such as energy efficiency projects in buildings and public infrastructure, promotion of green investments and, in particular, self-consumption, as well as sustainable mobility.
Digitization with Single Plan Broadband
Along with the energy transition, the subdelegate advanced the presence of Taboada in the latest call for digitization of the territory carried out by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through the Single Broadband Program. “With funds from the Recovery Plan, Taboada will have high-speed internet connection in practically the entire territory,” confirmed Isabel Rodríguez.
Thus, Taboada is included in the state projects of endowment of internet of more than 300mb to areas of the municipality without coverage. Specifically, the UNICO Program will allow the high-speed connection of 411 points where 1,301 homes and companies in Taboada are located.
“It is a before and an after for the neighbors who live in the locality, as well as for the companies of the area” stressed the subdelegate who valued this program “with which we are going to reach all corners of the province because we consider it a fundamental service to fight against depopulation and settle new population in the municipalities of Lugo”.
Between the two calls for the Single Plan, the Government invests in the province of Lugo 22.5 million euros to bring high-speed connection technology to more than 32,700 homes and companies in the province.
