The subdelegate of the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, received today the General Secretary of Galicia of the Unified Police Union (SUP), Roberto González; who was accompanied by the provincial secretary, Alfonso Darriba, to address the main demands of this police organization.
During the meeting, the representatives of the SUP transferred to the subdelegate the most important proposals and demands in labor and professional matters of this union for the National Police Force in the province of Lugo.
Isabel Rodríguez thanked the representatives of the organization for their willingness to maintain a fluid communication with the Government and highlighted the effort made by the Ministry of Interior over the past four years, strengthening the staff with 478 police “to offer greater attention and security to the citizens.”
In this regard, he said that Galicia now has the maximum number of National Police and Civil Guard personnel in the last 10 years, and in 2023 it will reach the maximum number of agents in the history of the community, with the new offer of public employment of 5,000 National Police and Civil Guard agents for all of Spain launched by the Ministry of Interior.
“During the previous government, we lost 561 troops in the community. With the Government of Pedro Sánchez we have already incorporated 579. Not only do we reverse that situation of loss of troops, but we continue to increase the number,” said Rodríguez, who reported that, currently, Galicia has almost 8,800 troops and the province of Lugo has 1,376.
Finally, the subdelegate recalled that the province of Lugo and Galicia are safe territories, with a crime rate well below the state average, thanks to the effectiveness of the police response.
