The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 2.375 million euros (VAT included) for the modernization and improvement of energy efficiency works in the Miravete tunnel, on the A-5 motorway, in the municipalities of Casas de Miravete and Deleitosa, province of Cáceres.
This action falls within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Plan of the DGC, fulfilling one of the milestones committed to the European Commission in the Addendum of the Recovery Plan to improve the energy efficiency of transport infrastructures. The intervention is funded through the European NextGenerationEU funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
The Miravete Tunnel is located between kilometers 217 and 218 of the A-5, and is formed by two unidirectional tubes. It is an interurban tunnel, with 1,178 m in length in tube 1, direction Badajoz, and 1,195 m in tube 2, direction Madrid.
The purpose of this contract is to provide the tunnel with the necessary facilities and equipment to continue guaranteeing safety to the users of the tunnel, as well as to reduce energy consumption in its operation with the improvement of the efficiency of its facilities.
The project envisages the design of a smart lighting installation using LED technology, acting on the following installations:
-Normal lighting
-Security lighting
-Lighting management system
-Electric lighting power circuits
-Distribution channeling of lighting circuits
-Low voltage electrical panels
-Battery of capacitors
The aim is to adapt the lighting system to provide the installation with greater energy efficiency. To this end, an intelligent control and regulation system will be incorporated, which makes it necessary to replace the current VSAP luminaires with LED equipment, which allows point-to-point regulation.
Thus, the intelligent management system will allow the regulation of the lighting equipment by equipment, adapting its intensity to the needs of the circulation depending on both the light coming from the outside and the level of occupation of the tunnel.
