Adif AV gives a new impetus to the development of the High Speed Line (LAV) to Extremadura with the start of a new phase in the construction of the second stretch: the drafting of the project of the laying of the tracks in the 70 km that connect Talayuela and Plasencia, in the province of Cáceres.
The drafting of the project, prior to the tender of the track assembly works, begins while the construction of four of the seven sections of the line platform has already been completed or is about to be completed, and advances are made to complete the other three.
The project, commissioned to Consultrans and allocated 520,300 euros, will define the works to deploy the double track in conventional width in the route and all its connections and branches, with the assembly of all the elements that compose them (ballast, sleepers, rail and detours).
Performances in progress
Adif AV undertakes this new phase of the development of the high-speed line while completing the first stretch of the corridor, between Plasencia and Badajoz - already in service and electrified - with the construction of the Mérida bypass and the deployment of the ERTMS signaling system.
It has also contracted the construction of the connecting branch with Plasencia and is tackling the last stage of the renovation of tracks, platforms and other elements of the stations of Mérida, Aljucén and Cáceres, after concluding them at the station of Badajoz.
At the same time, it advances in the construction of the platform of the second stretch, the Talayuela Plasencia, which will have 70% of its platform completed this year: in two stretches it is already finished, in another two its conclusion is completed; and it advances in three. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, for its part, addresses the Information Study on the Madrid-Oropesa section.
These actions contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9 (promoting reliable, sustainable and quality infrastructure), 7 (sustainability) and 8 (creating jobs and economic growth).
