The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, presided over the minute of silence called at the headquarters of the Government Delegation in condemnation of the machista murders in Alicante and in support of the relatives and friends of the victims.
“Faced with this new murder,” said Bernabé, “it is appropriate that each and every one of the administrations with responsibilities to protect women from the violence that kills them because they are women, act and work and, above all, combat all possible negationism.”
The delegate wanted to remind “the Government of the Generalitat that it must and has the obligation to fight against gender violence and to move away from any negationism”. In this sense, he recalled that “negationism in all its dimensions kills, machista negationism kills, climate negationism kills, the negationism of truth kills democracy, and therefore today is a day to claim that policies must be responsible, rigorous and close to the fight against gender violence.”
With the woman murdered in Alicante, two women and a child have been victims of male violence in the Valencian Community so far this year. Today’s event began with Barnabas reading an institutional statement against gender violence.
