The Tax Agency has already returned 8,301 million euros to 12,041,000 taxpayers at the end of the 2022 Personal Income Tax (IRPF 2022) declaration campaign, so that, as of July 3, 80.2% of the returns requested in number and 70.1% in amount have already been paid, ratios similar to those of last year at equal dates.
The acceleration of the returns paid (+7.7% in number and +13.8% in amount) is a consequence of the increase recorded in the taxpayers’ own return requests. At the end of the campaign, a total of 22,889,000 declarations were filed, 3.9% more than the previous year, of which two thirds (15,021,000) resulted in returns and 6,384,000 with a balance to be paid.
Personalized support
According to the presentation channels, the ‘Le Llamamos’ plan for making statements by phone remains the main presentation system with personalized assistance with 1,070,000 statements, a figure very similar to last year that represents almost 58% of all presentations made with personalized assistance.
The rest corresponds to the 779,000 statements presented in the offices, 20.1% more than the previous year in a context of withdrawal of health restrictions. This establishes the double alternative for those taxpayers less accustomed to new technologies that require personalized assistance, with and without moving to a physical office.
Telematics Channels
In any case, the majority of taxpayers continue to file income tax returns online. In the campaign that now concludes, 21,039,000 declarations have been submitted through this channel, 91.9% of the total, of which 20,514,000 through the Agency's website, 3.1% more than the previous year.
This number of online submissions also includes the 525,100 statements submitted through the Agency’s mobile application, a channel that this year has recorded a strong increase of 23.6% in submissions. Of these statements, more than 396,800 (+31.6%), correspond to ‘one-click’ presentations and the rest are taxpayers to whom the ‘app’ has been transferred to Renta Web to make some modification and have returned to the ‘app’ itself to conclude the presentation.
More than 522,000 responses on the web to taxpayers' doubts
The main novelty of this campaign, the ‘Virtual Income Assistant’, together with the ‘Informer’ will continue to be available on the website of the Tax Agency at the end of the campaign to resolve doubts about the tax that may arise to taxpayers in the following dates.
During these almost three months of the campaign, the ‘virtual assistant’ has offered more than 272,000 responses to taxpayers to resolve their Income doubts. The ‘assistant’ is another step in the flexibility of the aid system offered by the Agency, since the taxpayer can ask questions in natural language to reach the answer they need.
This complements the complete service of clarification of queries that has been provided since last year by the Income ‘Informer’, who has given more than 250,000 answers in the present campaign. Together, both tools have provided 522,000 responses to taxpayers, 3.5 times more than the ‘Informer’ in last year’s campaign.
At the same time, this assistance for the resolution of tax doubts is in addition to the one provided through the traditional telephone channel for the resolution of tax doubts, which during the campaign has handled more than 2,145,000 calls from different taxpayer profiles.
Wealth Tax
In parallel with the Income Campaign, the corresponding Wealth Tax has also been developed, which should be declared by those taxpayers with a contribution to be paid (after applying the corresponding deductions and bonuses), and also by those with a contribution to be paid who last year had assets and rights worth more than two million euros. At the end of the campaign, more than 228,000 Heritage declarations have been registered, and the amount to be entered has reached 1,229 million euros.
