Transportes approves the route project to improve access from the N-603 to the San Rafael road conservation center, for 1.56 million euros
In the province of Segovia
Madrid, May 10, 2024
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has provisionally approved the project for the improvement of road safety in the access to the center for the conservation and exploitation of roads (COEX), located at kilometer 64,400 of the N-603 road, and the reorganization of the land of the center itself, located in El Espinar (San Rafael), in the province of Segovia. The works have an estimated construction budget of 1.56 million euros (VAT included).
In the near future, the project will be submitted to the public, and the arguments presented will then be analyzed so that, once supervised, it can be definitively approved. The corresponding announcement will be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The project has three main objectives:
- Improve the security of access to the COEX center from the N-603 road, since the current intersection lacks left turn and speed change lanes, which generates conflicting situations in the entry and exit maneuvers of the conservation vehicles with the rest of the vehicles circulating on this track.
- Solve the shortage of space in the facilities of the COEX center itself, since there is not enough surface, both those destined to the parking lots and pools of materials related to the winter viability and to the workers’ dependencies.
- Solve the conflict situations that occur between the vehicles of the COEX center and those that are directed to the neighboring properties, since all of them currently share the same access road.
In order to solve the problems highlighted, a solution composed of three main actions is planned:
- Improving access to the COEX center. Definition of a new intersection in “T” at km 64,550, equipped with central waiting lanes and lateral speed change lanes.
- Improvement of access to the adjoining farms. Definition of a perimeter vial to the COEX center, bidirectional, from which access is allowed, both to the various facilities of the center and to the neighboring farms.
- Increase of the surface of the COEX center. Two new esplanations are defined, one paved to the north of the current facilities and another affirmed, to the south, which represent an additional joint area of 6,918 m2.
