Virginia Barcones highlights that the II Villablino Fair Exaltation Day brings together the past and future of the Laciana Valley

December 4, 2023.- The delegate of the Government, Virginia Barcones, has participated in the II Day of Exaltation of the Fitierra held in Villablino on the occasion of the Day of Santa Barbara and in which the miners born in 1952 and 1953 have also been honored.
Virginia Barcones recalled that her visit to the event was a commitment made in her previous visit to Villablino to know the project for which the City Council had received more than two million euros from the DUS 5000. “I came to talk about the future and from that meeting I promised to be here today because a people who do not know where they come from does not know where they are going either. And the Laciana Valley knows where it comes from and today pays tribute to that past,” explained the delegate who was accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in León, Faustino Sánchez, as well as by the mayor Mario Rivas and other municipal representatives.
Virginia Barcones added that the Laciana Valley has to take part of that essence, that identity and take advantage of it in the future. In this sense, she has been convinced that the initiative of the City Council to celebrate a day around a typical gastronomic product such as the Fira will become “an important social meeting with tourist attraction”. “I am a firm defender of traditions and I think it is right to value this product to know where the Laciana Valley comes from,” he said, adding that the entire valley is going to have a future.
The delegate of the Government has participated in an act with which the City of Villablino wants to pay tribute not only to the miners, but also to the fisol, the most significant sweet of the Laciana Valley. It is an event that seeks, on the one hand, to value a typical dish of the valley, and on the other hand, to pay tribute to the miners who gave everything for the socioeconomic growth of Laciana.
