October 23, 2023.– The state public company Paradores de Turismo de España, of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, has opened the contracting, through electronic open tender, of the service of monitors and disseminators for the realization of personalized activities of astrotourism.
The purpose of this initiative is to bring added value to the product of Paradores, raising awareness of the wealth of the sky as a necessary resource for life and the conservation of an intangible heritage of humanity. Likewise, the astronomical observation activity is part of the company’s commitment to the development of sustainable tourism, thus contributing to the development of the local territory.
In this case, the hiring of an astrotourism monitor will be done in the Parador de Gredos, where it is planned to develop the activity throughout the year. This will include guided observation of the night sky, the stars, the moon, the planets, star clusters, constellations, mythological legends, etc.
It is planned that, in the activities of astrotourism, a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 35 will participate, with at least 2 telescopes if the group of attendees exceeds twenty.
The initiative to create the astrotourism service in the Parador de Gredos joins the ‘Stellarium’ project, promoted by the Provincial Council of Ávila and financed with 2.2 million euros, from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, Next-GenerationEU funds.
