The Ministry of Transport, through Renfe, has activated this Monday the deadline for the acquisition and/or renewal of subscriptions to enjoy the gratuitousness of the network of Neighbourhoods in Cantabria during the first four months of 2026, from January 1 to April 30.
The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has highlighted that users of the Cerca network can now renew subscriptions both in the application and on the Renfe website, as well as in the self-sale machines and in the ticket offices of the stations.
Casares has valued this measure of the Government of Spain that tries to “promote sustainable public transport” and complies with the commitment of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, with Cantabria to maintain this gratuitousness until the new trains arrive in the autonomous community within the framework of the integral renovation of the Neighbourhoods network.
The representative of the State in the region recalled that, in order to be able to purchase or renew the subscription for the first quarter of 2026, the Cantabrians and the Cantabrians must provide their ID or passport and, if possible, a mobile phone number.
It will also be necessary to deposit a deposit of 10 euros that Renfe will refund once the validity period of the subscription has ended, provided that the traveler has made at least 16 trips until April 30.
“The Government of Spain continues to comply with Cantabria and its citizens with this measure, renewed at the Council of Ministers on December 23, and which will allow the Cantabrians to continue enjoying the free trains of the network of Neighbourhoods,” said Casares.
