The delegate of the Government, Delia Losa, has chaired a meeting in which technicians of the Adif have explained to neighborhood and union representatives the progress of the works of integral renovation of the Gijón-Laviana metric width line.
The managers of the railway administrator have detailed the percentage of execution of the work, which is very high, but which has slowed down due to the theft of critical materials and vandalism. In total, more than ten complaints have been filed with the National Police and the Civil Guard for the theft of 42 inductive joints, necessary for the correct operation of train detection systems; 650 meters of contact wire and hanger, necessary for the supply of electrical energy to railway traction vehicles through the pantograph; 155 meters of double cable feeder, as well as numerous cuts in the contact wire along the stretch, which have caused damage to catenary equipment. This has led to the strengthening of private security to monitor the works.
In addition, they have explained other contingencies in the works, such as the storms of recent months, the generalized situation faced by the construction sector with the logistics of materials and the need to carry out deeper healings in some sections of the line.
The Adif has doubled human equipment, technical resources and machinery to maintain progress in the performance, which will be completed at the beginning of May.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Langreo Underground Platform, CCOO and UGT del Nalón.
