Sanitary Control of Products in Frontera
One of the main activities carried out by the integrated services of the Area of Agriculture and Fisheries and of Health and Social Policy Area , is the implementation of sanitary controls in the international traffic of goods.
The External Health, Animal Health and Plant Health and Pharmacy Inspection Services are responsible for the health inspection of goods coming from third countries and destined to be introduced into the territory of the European Union and in particular for carrying out the following controls:
- Control of hygienic-sanitary conditions in the international traffic of goods and foodstuffs liable to endanger the health of the population, such as luggage accompanying travellers such as postal shipments to private individuals.
- Hygienic-sanitary control and surveillance on imports of products intended for human consumption. It is also responsible for the sanitary control of by-products of animal origin destined for the pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry and kitchen waste from means of transport operating on an international scale.
- Health monitoring of live animals, products of animal origin not intended for human consumption and products intended for animal nutrition, both on an import and an export basis.
- Phytosanitary control in plant products, both under import and export regimes.
- Control and inspection of medicinal genders at the border, both under import and export arrangements.
