The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Minister of Governance, Digital Administration and Self-Government of the Basque Country, María Ubarretxena, have co-chaired today the Bilateral Cooperation Commission in Madrid, in which both governments have agreed to transfer the functions on work permits to foreign people, which will be initialled in the Joint Transfer Commission and which will become effective from July 1, 2025.
These are, among other competences, the initial authorizations of self-employment or self-employment for foreigners whose work activity is carried out in the Basque Country; or the collective management of contracts at source.
On the other hand, a collaboration agreement and cooperation in the field of meteorology and climatology has materialized. The purpose is to establish, manage and maintain observation networks, share data and coordinate the issuance of warnings between the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and the systems and infrastructures attached to the Basque Meteorological Service (Euskalmet).
Likewise, an agreement has been adopted on the ownership of the former Villa Etxaide Borda, in C/ Caserío Parada, 48 (Donostia-San Sebastián).
