The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, said today that the draft Royal Decree for the creation and regulation of the Council of Democratic Memory will be sent to the Council of State, within which the so-called “truth commission” will act, which will be responsible for studying the violations of human rights in the years of the Civil War and the Dictatorship. This committee will have the participation of memorialist persons and entities of recognized solvency in the academic field.
Torres has responded to an interpellation by EH Bildu in Congress about the events of the Sanfermines of 1978, when the Armed Police entered the bullring of Pamplona, where a group of people had unfurled a banner for total amnesty. The charge, with real fire, resulted in the death, due to a shot in the forehead, of the student Germán Rodríguez and with 150 people injured.
