The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has extended his hand to all political formations for the agreement and has called for loyalty, to be constructive and to put aside the free gall.
In his appearance at the Congress of Deputies, which he made at his own request to explain the general lines of his department in the field of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres shared a reflection on “the permanent staging of disagreement, which only provokes an unfocused view of reality and general interest”.
Torres stressed that, although disagreements between political parties appear more in the national spotlight, more agreements are being reached between the Government and the autonomous communities than in previous times and conflict is being reduced, despite the fact that the governments are of different political signs.
The minister has given as an example the agreements reached in December on Law 7/2023 on the Protection of the Rights and Welfare of Animals, with Extremadura “without the need to reach the Constitutional Court”. The head of Territorial Policy recalled that the differences over this law were reflected in great headlines. Instead, after the agreement, he asks “where have the news been celebrating the agreement between governments of different signs?”
Torres understands that dissent is inherent in a democratic society, but considers that the sometimes gratuitous brawl and the staging of disagreement in order to obtain political gain should be avoided.
