The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory has appropriated a budget of 100,000 euros to contribute to the implementation of the Canarian Center for the Interpretation of Historical Memory LGTBIQ+ in what was the Agricultural Penitentiary Colony of Tefía, on the island of Fuerteventura.
This was announced by Ángel Víctor Torres, Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, during a visit to these facilities, in which the Franco regime imprisoned a hundred homosexual people, between 1954 and 1966. “Let this interpretation center serve to make visible the repression and forced labor that took place here; let it be a place of reflection, with the truth ahead, so that it never happens again,” the minister said.
