Ángel Víctor Torres has taken office as Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, receiving the portfolio of those who have assumed such competences in the Government so far, Isabel Rodríguez (Territorial Policy) and Félix Bolaños (Democratic Memory).
Ángel Víctor Torres stressed in his speech that “there is nothing better for the defense of democracy than the word” and recalled that it comes from an autonomous community where “it is necessary to dialogue and seek agreements”.
As Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, he has expressed his commitment to “agree, agree and agree within a diverse and plural community such as Spain”.
Ángel Víctor Torres began and ended his speech by recalling the “father of Canarian socialism”, who died on the same day, Jerónimo Saavedra, “a servant and a magnificent official”, who was Minister of the Spanish Government on two occasions, President of the Canary Islands Government, Mayor of Las Palmas and Deputy of the Common.
