- The Minister of Territorial Policy and the President of the FEMP met with the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces at the beginning of September
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, has met today with the President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Abel Caballero, with whom she has studied the issues that will occupy the new political course that begins after the summer holidays and with different issues that will occupy the activity of the department with local entities, such as European funds, legislative reforms or the fires that have affected a large number of municipalities this summer.
After the meeting, Isabel Rodríguez showed the support of the Government of Spain for the work of all the mayors of our country and their commitment to the municipality: “We are sure that with the municipalities we will have more success in the economic reactivation, of our country, because they are the closest administration, the one that has and feels the beat of civil society and the economic field, and with them we want to develop all the plans of the European funds”
The minister added that the commitment of the Government of Spain, in addition, translates into greater income for the municipalities, “22 billion in account deliveries for the next financial year.”
Isabel Rodríguez also stressed that “we have a long way to go with institutions that have played a key role in the democratic development of our country and that must continue to play an important role in all the challenges ahead, fundamentally in social cohesion, economic reactivation and the development of projects vital for the new generations.”
Abel Caballero, for his part, has highlighted "the municipal sensitivity of the current government and our participation in all areas, which highlights that sensitivity, and that the Minister of Territorial Policy comes from a mayor's office continues to express it".
The president of the FEMP has valued the result of this meeting in a very positive way: “I am sure that we will have a fluid and extraordinarily fruitful relationship for each of the municipalities and for all of Spain, if we work together with the government and local corporations.”
Finally, Isabel Rodríguez and Abel Caballero went to the beginning of September to hold a meeting with the FEMP Governing Board.
