The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Carolina Darias, has attended, together with the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, the event held in La Moncloa of the signing of the agreement of the Government of Spain with the FEMP, which will allow municipalities to have more resources to face the effects of COVID-19.
The agreement has been signed by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Abel Caballero.
Among the benefits that this agreement will bring, the following stand out:
✅ Provision of a fund of 5,000 million for municipalities, to be executed in 2020 and 2021 annuities.
✅ Suspension of the spending rule for the year 2020, an important measure due to the fall in income of municipalities.
✅ Provision of an additional fund of 275 million, expandable, to compensate for the deficit of public transport services of municipal ownership.
✅ Transfer of accumulated remnants to the Treasury for return to the municipalities since 2022 within ten years.
✅ Extension to 2020 of the extension for the execution of financially sustainable investments from superavit generated in a previous year.
