The Government agrees with the Basque Country on the timetable for negotiating the transfer of the 32 outstanding competences of the Gernika Statute

• Meeting chaired by Minister Carolina Darias and Basque councilor Josu Erkoreka
• The Government works with the firm will of dialogue and understanding with all territorial administrations and fulfilling the commitments
• In this regard, the Government expresses its willingness to dialogue in order to comply with the provisions of the Gernika Statute
• Advances are made in the calendar of subjects that can be negotiated, through a timetable in four blocks that extend throughout 2020 and 2021, with realistic and concrete deadlines in complex matters

The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Carolina Darias, and the Basque Minister of Public Governance and Self-Government, Josu Erkoreka, have agreed today in Vitoria a schedule of transfers of the 32 competences pending and included in the Basque Statute.

The state and Basque governments agree to begin negotiations, with reasonable, affordable and realistic deadlines, within the cooperation initiated in Madrid, on February 5, which has continued today at the Vitoria meeting, in a climate of dialogue and cordiality.
