The Council of Ministers has approved a Royal Decree-Law on the remuneration increase of the public sector in 2020, in line with the commitments made with the unions in the field of public service.
The increase in remuneration for 2020 establishes the following forecasts:
- A fixed increase of 2% in the remuneration of female employees and public employees with effect from 1 January.
- A variable increase, depending on the GDP growth of 2019, which can reach up to 1%
- Regardless of the amounts established above, an increase in the salary mass of 0.30% may be authorized, as additional funds for the implementation of plans or projects to improve productivity or efficiency, among other measures, after collective bargaining.
The cost of the Royal Decree-Law is estimated to amount to 3,212 million euros.
