Intervention before the media by Elena Salgado

The Minister of Public Administrations has appeared to inform of the position of the Government before the announcement made by the Basque Lehendakari, Juan José Ibarretxe

Opposition to the project

Elena Salgado expressed the opposition of the Government of Spain to the project because it is unilateral, does not have the necessary consensus and is outside the Constitution

The Lehendakari is the highest representative of the State in the Basque Country

And as such, the Minister of Public Administrations has highlighted, she has the obligation to comply with and enforce the laws

The Government will act firmly

If the bill is approved by the Basque Parliament, said Elena Salgado, the government will challenge the law before the TC with the consequent suspension of its validity
