The final decision on the location of the Thirty Metre Telescope (TMT) in La Palma now depends exclusively on its international consortium, after the public administrations have completed their part. The Commissioner has very positively valued this impulse since La Palma has exceptional conditions for astronomical observation and the Canary Islands has experience, potential and exceptional location, as well as contributing notoriously to the reconstruction of the island, which bets on strategic projects of long impact that collaborate to establish a stable economic model in which science implies a significant percentage of development.
