The objective of the meeting was to evaluate the files of the self-employed affected by the volcanic eruption, analyze the detail of the most specific cases and strengthen the coordination between the different entities involved. During the meeting it became clear that, although most businesses have already resumed their activity, complex situations persist in which recovery continues to be difficult, as is the case with the businesses of Puerto Naos and La Bombilla affected by harmful gases of volcanic origin.
In addition to the analysis of the regulations, the key role of social and mutual graduates in supporting the self-employed has been highlighted, both in administrative management and in advising on the available aids. Izquierdo wanted to reiterate the commitment to the economic and social recovery of La Palma, stressing the need to “continue refining support instruments and strengthening institutional collaboration” and urged attendees to maintain a permanent channel of coordination between administrations and professional managers.
