The presentation of this cultural guide was accompanied by a lecture given by Dr. Jesús Pérez Morera, tenured professor of the Department of Art History and Philosophy of the University of La Laguna and entitled “Flamenco Art on the Island of La Palma: an extraordinary spiritual, identity and collective legacy”. Both actions are part of that effort to recover not only the tangible, but also the intangible; to return to the palm community its pride, its memory, its sense of belonging.

On the occasion of the presentation of the new Cultural Guide “Art of Flanders on the Island of La Palma”, the Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of the island, Héctor Izquierdo Triana, attended the event and highlighted the role of art as an instrument of recovery of the social fabric and of the palm identity after the volcanic eruption.
Since the creation of the Commissioner, in June 2022, the support of all the ministries towards La Palma has been evident in all its areas. Izquierdo has stressed that the investments of the State are not limited to the material: “The support of the Ministry of Culture and other administrations allows us to implement fundamental cultural initiatives, which give voice to our history, preserve our roots and strengthen our island identity.”
