Immersed as the island is in reconstruction, the construction sector reaffirms itself as one of the main factors of the economic recovery of the island. In September, the wholesale sale of cement experienced an increase of 19.8% in year-on-year comparison, reaching a total of 21. 835 tons during the first nine months of the year. This volume already exceeds the figures obtained in 2019, which shows the progress in the works related to the reconstruction of the territory.
However, the agricultural sector continues to face difficulties. Hence, the Commissioner insisted that "the main front of action for reconstruction is agriculture, so that crops can be recovered in conditions similar to those before the eruption."
