Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, Madrid

The Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, Fernando Martínez, has held a meeting with Francisco Aldecoa, president of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement, in which they have analyzed possible ways of collaboration between both institutions for the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the so-called Contubernio de Munich, which will be held on 4, 5 and 6 June 2022.

Munich hosted the Fourth Congress of the European Movement in early June 1962. More than a hundred Spanish politicians of all tendencies opposed to the Franco regime both in the interior and in exile participated in this meeting, in what was the first step taken after the Civil War by the opposition to the Franco regime to unite against the dictatorship. The Falangist newspaper Arriba described this meeting as "dirty conspiracy against Spain", hence the name with which it has been known since then.
