The Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, Fernando Martínez, has highlighted the work that the Government has done for which the Pazo de Mearas was publicly owned, as well as the contribution of the Galician people and the institutions that have participated in these years of demand.
The Secretary of State for Democratic Memory and President of the Technical Commission of the Pazo de Mearas, Fernando Martínez, presided today over the telematic meeting in which the group of experts of the Pazo has been formally constituted, whose task is to reflect on the story and future uses of the Mearas enclosure.
This meeting was attended by the people appointed by each of the administrations interested in the future use of the Pazo: by the General Administration of the State, Xosé Manuel Núñez Xeixas, Ángel Manuel Rodríguez Blanco and Manuel Regueiro López; by the Xunta de Galicia, Ramón Villares and Isabel Burdiel; by the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Carlos Babío and Emilio Grandío; by the City Council of Sada, Manuel Pérez Lozano; by the City Council of A Coruña, Aleire, Gallegar
The meeting also decided that Xosé Manuel Núñez Xeixas would be in charge of the Chair of the group and that Marilar Aleixandre would be in charge of the Secretariat.
In his speech, Fernando Martínez thanked all the people who make up this group for their involvement, and stressed that "there is a lot of interest on the part of Galician society in the work of this group". In this sense, he has shown his confidence in the work of the experts and has pointed out that he knows his great professional capacity and the interest on the part of all of us so that Mevas becomes not only a local reference, but a reference in Democratic Memory at national and even international level.
The Secretary of State has highlighted the work that the Government has done for the Pazo de Mearas to be publicly owned, as well as the contribution of the Galician people and the institutions that have participated in these years of demand. It has been "the Meiré Model", which, as explained by Fernando Martínez, "is nothing other than the great consensus that all the institutions and citizens' associations achieved when demanding the return of the Pazo".
In this context, the Secretary of State has asked the experts to participate with the professional contributions and the development of the work of each one and with the aim of seeking agreements within the group to make proposals and contributions to the Commission of the Pazo de Mearas.
