Its mission is the research, conservation and restoration of the assets that make up the Cultural Heritage. Among other functions, it is responsible for the archiving and systematization of the works carried out and the documentation available on historical heritage.

It is the custodian of projects for the conservation and restoration of movable and immovable cultural property, as well as the photographs and plans accompanying them; the Inventory of Architectural Heritage; and the historical fund on the protection of artistic heritage during the Civil War, formed by the documentation of the Board of Seizure of the Artistic Treasure (1936 - 1939) and the Artistic Recovery Service (1937-1942). Although the oldest documents date back to the 1930s, most of them date back to the 1960s.
