On the 80th anniversary of the Republican exile, the Ministry of Health takes care, through this Day, of doctors, nurses, practitioners and other health personnel who were forced to flee. Inuguran the acting Minister of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, María Luisa Carcedo, and the acting Minister of Justice, Dolores Delgado. The meeting reflects on the impact of the exile of these professionals both in Spain, due to their absence, as well as in the host countries, due to their contribution. The screening of the documentary "Doctors in Exile", produced by the Spanish Athenaeum of Mexico, reflects both realities. The lecture "Assistance and socio-sanitary conditions of Spanish exiles in the south of France 1936-1945" will be given by Rubén Mirón, author of the international doctoral thesis of the same title. The round table, moderated by the former general director for Historical Memory, Fernando Martínez, Dr. Álvar Martínez, expert in exile, health and medicine, coordinator of the session "Hygiene and health in the fields" at the International Symposium "The Spanish refugee camps in France"; Carmen González, expert in female groups in exile and author of "The Andalusian Masons of the Republic, war and exile"; the neurologist Miguel Marco, author of "The injustice of a oblivion. The World of Marcelino Easter (1897-1977)", and the professor of Research, History of Medicine and Science, Jon Arrizabalaga.
The meeting was closed by the Under-Secretary of Justice, Cristina Latorre, and the Secretary General of Health, Faustino Blanco.
