The Young Cultural Bonus, a program promoted by the Ministry of Culture, kicks off its fourth edition. Starting today, people born in 2007 can apply for this aid of 400 euros that can be used for the acquisition and enjoyment of products, services and cultural activities. To request it, people who have reached or are going to reach 18 years of age in 2025 must register and carry out the application procedure on the web https://bonoculturajoven.gob.es/ until next October 31.
Young people who reach the age of 18 in 2025 who are of Spanish nationality, have legal residence in Spain, whether they are asylum seekers, temporary displaced persons or ex-guardianship foreigners are entitled to this assistance. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, there are 23,033 potential beneficiaries in the Basque Country, out of 534,526 potential beneficiaries nationwide.
Marisol Garmendia, delegate of the Government in the Basque Country, welcomes the launch of this fourth edition of the Cultural Voucher. “I encourage all young people to ask for this help with which the Government of Spain intends to promote their access to cultural products, a fundamental instrument to open minds and achieve a more critical and plural society. For the delegate of the Government, “the objective of the Ministry of Culture with this initiative shows the interest of a wide spectrum of the young Basque and Spanish population in the culture that this Voucher helps to promote their creativity and build loyalty as a public and cultural consumer for the future. On the other hand, this measure supports the cultural industry and the protection of jobs.”
Previously, the interested parties must obtain one of these three forms of digital identification: Cl@ve with basic registration (which can be requested and obtained by video call), Cl@ve with advanced registration (in person and for those who have not yet reached the age of 18) or the Digital Certificate. Young people interested in applying for the Young Cultural Voucher can carry out the procedure on their own behalf or through the representation of an adult, for which it is necessary to attach the downloadable representation form on the website, correctly signed by the beneficiary. In these cases, the family book is not a document accrediting the representation.
About the Young Cultural Bonus
From the granting of the aid, young people have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments, 3,700 throughout Spain, 112 of them in the Basque Country. The Young Cultural Bonus works with a prepaid card that the beneficiary can have virtually on his mobile or receive physically at home. With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three categories to favor the diversification of spending:
- 100 euros for physical products, for example, books, press or discs.
- 100 euros for digital products, such as subscriptions to platforms, digital press, podcast or online video games.
- 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums...
The Young Cultural Bonus is regulated by the Royal Decree, with indefinite validity, which the Council of Ministers approved on March 21, 2023, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture. It has an endowment of 170 million euros in the General State Budgets extended. In 2022, the first year of validity of this initiative, a total of 277,607 people obtained the Young Cultural Bonus throughout Spain; in 2023, the figure amounted to 319,237 and in 2024 there were 334,435 beneficiaries.
