The three detainees provided transport in exchange for money of about 250€ per person/trip and, thanks to the collaboration of the Civil Guard and French Border Police, 18 victims located in a convoy intended to transfer them from Portugal to France have been rescued.
Trial for the three arrests
During the afternoon of April 29, 2024, oral proceedings took place in the courts of Bayonne (France) with the three detainees detained by the PAF on the night of Tuesday, April 23, 2024, who were considered alleged perpetrators of an offence of facilitating irregular immigration.
The three male detainees have been sentenced to 3 years, 18 months and 10 months in prison respectively.
The collaboration carried out on the day of the arrests consisted of an exchange of operational data on people and vehicles, so it is important to highlight the benefits of this type of police coordination for the improvement of European public security, and the fight against all kinds of threats, especially that of irregular immigration.
