The Subdelegation of the Government in Bizkaia clarifies that neither Maritime Captaincy nor Demarcation of Coasts are participants in the decision of the Athletic Club to collect a registration fee to accompany the barge

The Government Subdelegation in Bizkaia believes
It is appropriate to clarify different aspects related to the collection of registration fees,
decided by Athletic Club, to the boats that will accompany the barge in a
Event scheduled for next April 11th.
Both The Maritime Captaincy of Bilbao, dependent on the Ministry of Transport
and Sustainable Mobility, like the Demarcation of Coasts of the Basque Country, are not
participants in the decision of the Athletic Club to charge a registration fee
To participate in the nautical event of accompaniment of the Gabarra. And
until the publication of the Athletic announcement last Monday, in the Captaincy
Marítima y Demarcación de Costas was not aware of the claim for payment to the
participants.
This subdelegation of the Government, The Maritime Captaincy and Demarcation of Coasts
have been collaborating for several weeks with Athletic Club, the organization of the
event, the Port Authority, and other administrations and bodies in the
Preparation of the event to ensure your safety.
The Maritime Captaincy, as a Maritime Administration, is responsible for
Approval of the maritime safety conditions of the application for
Celebration of the event presented by the Athletic Club at the beginning of the month. Those
conditions are approved in accordance with the Regulations approved by the Royal
Decree 62/2008, which aims to determine the requirements related to
safety at sea, in navigation and in human life at sea.
For its part, the Demarcation of Costas, dependent on the General Directorate of the
Coast and Sea of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge
It has the following competencies:
• For the performance of certain activities in the public land-based maritime domain
(space that includes, among others, beaches and estuaries as far as
reach the tides), authorization is required for activities in which,
or there are special circumstances of intensity, dangerousness or
profitability, or require the occupation of the public sea-land domain
with removable facilities or with movable property.
