The National Police arrests two people for sexually exploiting women in a flat

In Vitoria-Gasteiz, the National Police arrested two people, a man and a woman, for the alleged commission of crimes of prostitution and sexual exploitation, taking advantage of the serious situation of vulnerability presented by their victims to exercise and remain in prostitution. He has also arrested a third party accused of allegedly carrying out a crime of favouring illegal immigration, by contracting marriage with the detainee for sexual exploitation in exchange for financial compensation so that he could regularize his situation in Spain.

The investigation began in July, when a client reported to the investigators of the Provincial Brigade of Foreigners and Borders of Álava that, after contracting the sexual services of a woman, she had told him that she was being sexually exploited by those responsible for the apartment where she was working.

Faced with this news, the agents opened a quick investigation that allowed them to find out that the managers of this apartment, located in the capital of Vitoria, were a 68-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman who managed a website where different sexual services were offered. In this regard, they discovered that the suspects rented the rooms of this apartment weekly to girls who engaged in prostitution.

In relation to these women, they discovered that almost all of them were foreigners without financial resources and in an irregular situation who were forced to prostitute themselves in order to survive and help their families in their countries of origin.

As far as working conditions are concerned, they were forced to work from 11 a.m. to midnight without rest days, for which, at the beginning of their day, they were provided with mobile phones with which to arrange services directly through the website and, once finished, be returned to this couple to control all the traffic of calls and messages received.

Likewise, each time the victims performed a service, they charged the client a certain amount that was delivered entirely and indistinctly to the two pimps and, at the end of the day, they received an agreed percentage, having to leave this apartment until the next day.

In the framework of this investigation, they also found that the suspect, in order to regularize her situation in our country, had contracted a fictitious marriage with a 55-year-old man for which she paid three thousand euros (€3,000).

For all these reasons and once sufficient evidence was gathered, the investigators of the Provincial Police Station of Araba proceeded to the arrest of this couple and the neighbor of Vitoria who had married the exploiter, as well as to the judicial disposition of the three, who are currently at liberty on charges pending the corresponding trial.
