A total of 8,487 young people have already applied for the Young Cultural Voucher in the Basque Country in its second edition, which represents 39.08% of the total number of potential beneficiaries. The deadline to apply for the Bonus ends on September 30. The government delegate in the Basque Country, Denis Itxaso, has given a boost today in La Terminal (the Old Stamping and Coppersmithing Factory, located in the center of the island of Zorrotzaurre) to the application process by young people, which is in its final stretch.
Along with the delegate, the director of the Artium Museum, Beatriz Herráez; the representative of the Gremio de Libreros de Gipuzkoa; the director of International and Institutional Relations of LAST TOUR, Vera Wrana, and the president of the company that manages La Terminal, Manu Gómez, participated in this event. All of them have explained the importance and development of the Young Cultural Bond in the programming of their respective sectors.
“In the Basque Country,” said Itxaso, “a total of 21,718 young people who turn 18 in 2023 will be able to benefit from the Cultural Voucher in its second edition. So far, 2,796 young people have requested it in Gipuzkoa; 4,335 in Bizkaia and 1,356 in Álava. The investment planned by the Ministry of Culture and Sport for the autonomous community amounts to 8,687.2 billion euros. This is a great opportunity for young people and for cultural institutions and companies in the Basque Country”.
In 2022, the first year of validity of this initiative, a total of 13,787 people obtained the Young Cultural Bonus in the Basque Country, 64.05% of the estimated population. “As of last June, users had already carried out 63,003 operations for an amount close to 2.1 million euros. The operations registered until last month are distributed among live arts, which accumulate 48.3% of purchases and 58.8% of expenditure; cultural goods in physical form, which represent 32.9% of operations and 29.4% of total expenditure; and products in digital form, which represent 18.8% of purchases and 11.8% of expenditure”, disaggregated Itxaso.
“The Cultural Voucher”, added the government delegate, “is the best celebration of the age of majority for a young person, who can celebrate it with art and culture. The Bonus helps to build the loyalty of young people as a public and cultural consumer for the future. And, on the other hand, it supports the cultural sector to recover from the difficult times it usually goes through.”
Therefore, the Government encourages young people to apply for the Bonus in this new edition and to register as soon as possible because the deadline ends on September 30.
Digital identification
Since June 13, people born in 2005 can apply for the 400 euros intended for the acquisition and enjoyment of products, services and cultural activities foreseen in the Cultural Voucher of this second year. To do this, young people who have reached or will reach the age of 18 in 2023 must register and carry out the application procedure on the website www.bonoculturajoven.es before September 30.
It will be essential that, previously, the interested parties obtain one of these three forms of digital identification: Cl@ve with basic registration (which can be requested and obtained by video call), Cl@ve with advanced registration (in person and for those who have not yet reached the age of 18) or the Digital Certificate. Young people interested in applying for the Young Cultural Voucher can carry out the procedure personally or through the representation of an adult, for which it is necessary to attach the downloadable representation form on the website, correctly signed by beneficiary and representative. In these cases, the family book is not a document accrediting the representation.
The program is entitled to young people of 18 years of Spanish nationality, as well as those foreigners who have legal residence in Spain, asylum seekers, temporary displaced persons and foreign persons ex tuteladas in the process of obtaining the residence permit.
About the Young Cultural Bonus
From the granting of the aid, the beneficiaries have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments, which already exceed 3,000 throughout Spain. The Young Cultural Voucher works with a prepaid card that beneficiaries can have in virtual format on their mobile device or in physical format that they will receive at their home or address indicated in the application. With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three sections to favor diversification between the different cultural sectors, with the following distribution:
- 100 euros for physical products, for example, books, press or discs.
- 100 euros for digital products, such as digital press, podcast, online video games and virtual platforms.
- 200 euros for living arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums or bullfighting shows.
